ARTIST STATEMENT
A seminal work in the Fuckboy Street Art movement, this piece explores the intersection of masculine vulnerability and urban decay. The subject's carefully curated aesthetic—the striped polo, the baseball cap, the precisely rolled jeans—represents a critique of performative masculinity in the Instagram age.
The pink wall serves as both backdrop and metaphor: a rejection of traditional masculinity's color-coded restrictions, while simultaneously embracing the superficiality of aesthetic consumption. The crossed arms suggest defensiveness, yet the direct gaze challenges the viewer to acknowledge their own participation in the visual economy of desire.
This work was first exhibited at the Non-Linear Masculinities Symposium (Brooklyn, 2023) and has been featured in Hyperallergic's "10 Artists Deconstructing Bro Culture Through Performance." Currently held in a private collection in Williamsburg.
